Many of our students choose to participate in our horse program. Students have the opportunity to work with over 50 horses, including uncommon breeds like Clydesdale's and Friesians. The young people will be trusted to care for the horses on a daily basis, as well as learn how to ride and work with them.
The students involved with the horse program have many unique opportunities. The horses are the centerpiece of our parade outreach which sends a team of students to participate in several parades in the area. Horseback riding lessons, trail rides, “Cowboy cookouts” and overnight camp outs are all a part of the fun of being involved in the horse program.
Many students have found a place to belong in the horse program, some taking the knowledge that they gained at Freedom Village to go on to work with horses after they left.
